With the photography project ‘In pelle’ (‘on the skin’), photographer Bart Van Leuven and floral artist Rita Gijbels enter a new but fascinating territory: the human body as a landscape in which things happen. Sometimes the body becomes an almost abstract form in which the artists intervene with floral and vegetal matter. At other times, the focus is on body parts that are taken out of their familiar context and brought into a new and surprising coherence.

This is the second volume in a prestigious series of monographs presenting the work of Europe’s greatest floral artists. Last year, Parisian Gilles Pothier was the first. This year, the magnificent work of Nicole von Boletzky from Switzerland will be collected.

Laura Dowling made a radical career change 15 years ago. A very successful turnaround that even brought her to the White House, where she was appointed Chief Floral Designer from 2009 to 2015. During her six years as head floral designer, Laura Dowling was responsible for designing the showpieces and fairy-tale decorations that make the end-of-year period in the White House so memorable.
