Today, his work is represented in numerous collections. He has his own museum in Lecco (Italy). In 2002, he received the Michelangelo Award in recognition of his artistic career; one year later, he represented Uruguay at the Venice Biennale. On the occasion of an exhibition in the Groeninge Museum in Bruges, an extensive monograph was published in which the artist talks about his life and work in detail in an interview.
