In the summer of 2006 a number of different happenings, called Bruegel06
, around the figure of Pieter Bruegel will take place in and around Brussels. In the book, which accompanies four exhibitions, the work of Bruegel is at the centre. All paintings and drawings are depicted and accompanied by a short, comprehensible commentary. Richly illustrated essays bring an overview of various aspects of the society in Bruegel’s time (religion, science, the impact of the New World, the daily life of the nobility and the common people) and of the tracks he has set as an artist.
