Our society is in constant flux. The more globalized the world becomes, the more our differences come to the light. One of the most difficult but at the same time most intriguing issues of today is the apparent irreconcilability of the various monotheistic religions. All religions require the authenticity and uniqueness of their god figure, but how can this diversity exist within an alleged universal monotheism? The author, dr. Bart Crevits, hopes to initiate an intellectual debate about the pressing issue – ‘the polymonotheism paradox’ – which is without a doubt one of the biggest challenges and threats to our pluralistic society. The ultimate goal of his reflection is to come to a global consensus about the validity and value of the concept ‘God’ in our current times.
