From the beginning of April until the end of September 2003 the Belgian coastline was the magnificent scenery for a peerless artistic track. Monumental pieces of art were set up, resembling the beacons that refer to ancient church towers and lighthouses, the familiar points of identification of old times. Giant photographs, the so-called billboards, appeared on unexpected places and didn’t leave the passers-by indifferent. Intriguing projects of arts were lined up here and there as part of 2003 Beaufort, triennial for contemporary art by the coast. This guide was developed especially for those who wanted to enjoy all this to the full. In every village a walking track was designed especially. These tracks allowed the passers-by to admire these beautiful pieces of art from all sides, but also leaded them past all the permanent tourist attractions. A handy description of the route with a map and short explanatory texts made this guide the ideal guideline for nine unforgettable walks!
